Zonta Projects

Zonta is involved in International Service projects, Education grants supporting women to further their studies in traditionally male dominated fields and undertakes local service and advocacy activities.

Here's just a few examples of ways in which Zonta clubs have improved lives and living conditions for women over more than 100 years.

Zonta says NO to Violence Against Women

Our ongoing advocacy impact is built around the advocacy campaign “Zonta Says NO to Violence Against Women.” Launched in 2012, the campaign has raised awareness of the global pandemic of women’s rights violations and has united Zonta clubs worldwide in conducting impactful advocacy actions to fight violence against women and gender inequality.

The 16 Days of Activism held annually from 25th November to 10th December is a time when all Zontians participate in actions to raise awareness and support women and families who have suffered due to violence.

Zonta Says Now to Gender-Equal Climate Action

There are two significant threats to women achieving their full potential: violence and climate change. Through Zonta Says NO to Violence Against Women, Zontians are very familiar with how violence and power imbalances can impact women’s safety and careers; they may not be as familiar with how climate change magnifies gender inequality.

Around the world, millions of people have already lost their homes and livelihoods due to extreme weather events caused by climate change. Most of them are women.

When extreme heat, drought, fires, storms, floods, and sea-level rise disrupt lives and livelihoods, women are less likely than men to recover. Why? Because systemic gender inequality has led to women having fewer resources and choices than men.

Birthing Kits for Women in Remote Locations

Zonta in Australia partners with the Birthing Kit Foundation (originally founded by a Zonta club in Adelaide), to provide education and a clean and safe birth for women birthing at home in remote regions of the developing world. Clubs and individuals work together to raise funds and pack Birth Kits. To date over 2.7million kits have been distributed to women in over 30 countries.
